MACKEY PARK

Public BBQ

Mackey Park sits along the Cooks River in Marrickville, combining sports facilities with riverside tranquility. The recently rebuilt soccer fields are well-marked and flat, with floodlighting that occasionally stays on for free evening use. The park includes BBQ facilities, public toilets with drinking water taps for bottle refills, and a children's play area. Good pathways run through the park and connect to walking and bike tracks along the river, popular with dog walkers. Seating is limited throughout the park, and the grass gets particularly wet during winter mornings when dew settles. Street parking only. The park shifts between peaceful riverside atmosphere and lively match-day energy when soccer games draw crowds of all ages. The unfenced layout means dogs need reliable recall. The river setting brings plenty of birdlife and natural scenery, making it a solid option for picnics despite the basic facilities.
